To say that Emelin’s two children are happy, active, and thriving barely begins to capture the beautiful life blossoming within their home. During a recent visit, the joy was palpable — laughter echoed through the rooms, and the deep, unshakable bond between mother and children radiated love at every turn. Their connection isn’t just close — it’s a testament to a home built on hope, strength, and unwavering devotion.

When we first met Emelin over two years ago, her journey was just beginning. Today, her children are three and four years old — full of energy, curiosity, and promise. With support from Renaissance, the family now lives in a bright, welcoming apartment just steps away from the schools her children will soon attend.

It’s more than a new home, it’s a fresh start filled with possibility.

Each day, Emelin rises early, making breakfast and preparing her little ones for the day ahead. Then, she turns her attention to her own dreams. She’s currently enrolled in online classes and is on track to earn her associate degree in business next year. But she doesn’t stop there — Emelin also tutors young students in math and reading, guiding children from Pre-K through 4th grade with patience and care. All of this, while raising two young children on her own.

Her determination is as steady as it is inspiring. Emelin plans to continue her education and earn her bachelor’s degree, with a long-term goal of launching her own business — one that not only supports her family but also creates jobs for people who deserve a second chance. As she says with quiet conviction, “the decisions you make in your life are what you get in life.”

When asked about her experience with Renaissance, Emelin didn’t hesitate: she feels seen, supported, and genuinely cared for — as do her children. She speaks of the agency not just as a resource, but as a community that has stood beside her every step of the way. Without hesitation, she recommends Renaissance to others, knowing just how transformative the right support can be.
