Julianne Hartzell spent the majority of her career as a commercial litigator, primarily in intellectual property litigation handling patent, trademark, and copyright matters. She has also served as a mediator and as an adjunct professor at Chicago-Kent College of Law. She currently is a sixth generation shareholder and member of the board of directors for her family's businesses. She has retired from the active practice of law.
